District Detroit: How to make an arena, a community.
For District Detroit's CCS Sponsored Project, I worked in an amazing team of 3 to design a branding system for the District and its 5 vibrant neighborhoods.
After researching the city and contemporary branding best practices my group and I developed a story of the garage of Detroit. The city was born in the garage and so were its thinkers and makers: Henry Ford, Berry Gordy, and Mike Illitch himself.
Once we had a voice and a story to tell, we created a system based on the pegboard and factory window grids. With those tools in hand, we made a typeface with variables, a color palette, imagery, and patterns.
From the small idea conceived in the garage to a big experience created, this is our story.
